Preparation of the model for duplication (upper and lower)

Model preparation

Initial status

Upper and lower master cast, both Kennedy Class II
Occlusal rests are prepared by the dentist
Plaster Type: Class 4

The model base should be trimmed slightly conically so that the model can be easily removed from the duplicating mould!

Bite relation

Use a semi adjustable articulator

The outline of the relining is marked in pencil.

Extend the base over the dorsal area of the alveolar ridge as widely as possible.

In difficult bite relationships, and in the anterior region in general, it is recommended to make a set-up in advance!

It is not necessary to grind a food line into the plaster model. If however, this should be desired, it is advisable to carve a very light indentation using a rounded instrument!
